I want to share a story with you. Something that completely changed how I see myself. After this moment, my life split into before and after. And I hope it’ll help or inspire you too. I won’t begin with how I started pole dance — it’s a long story. Let’s go forward to the part where I was already a multiple pole dance champion. In tricks, in art — I was on top. Confident and strong. But then, around 2015, I decided to try exotic. I wanted something different. Not more power — but softness. Not showing off — but feeling.
I came to class thinking: “This will be easy. I’m already a pro pole dancer.” But… nope. Not at all.
✖ I was clumsy and awkward.
✖ My body was not that well coordinated, my shoulders were stiff .
✖ Heels, hands, flow, accents — everything felt wrong.
I was shocked. “Seriously? This is me?!” All the skills that made me great at tricks… Didn’t help much in exotic and sometimes even worked against me. But I kept going — because I’m a fighter, I love a challenge. Eventually I started to move better… But then I noticed something: I was turning into a copy of my teachers. Yes, I was dancing more confidently, repeating their moves… But it wasn’t me. Because we have different bodies. I’m not as flexible, not as soft or flowy.
